That gap widens with carat weight: at 2 carats, natural diamonds average around $16,558 versus $1,570 for lab grown, a difference of about 10.5 times.Shape moves prices more than most buyers expect. At 1 carat, Marquise cut natural diamonds are the most expensive while Asscher cuts are the most affordable, a gap of over 55% for the same carat weight. Carat size itself scales steeply: a 2 carat natural diamond costs nearly 4.5 times more than a comparable 1 carat stone, not just twice. Lab grown prices dropped around 17.2% over the past 6 months while natural prices remained relatively stable.
